Project EmpowerHER’s 8 week Summer Fellowship is a leadership space created for Asian women, made by an Asian woman. Click the dropdowns to learn more about what you could walk away with by becoming a Fellow!

By learning storytelling, body language, and weekly speech coaching, cohort members gain invaluable experience in real-life connections, networking, and presentation skills.

Learn how to take an idea from start to launch. Instead of theorizing about how a project could make an impact, Project EmpowerHER Fellows take real action, and are encouraged to consider real life implications of their impact projects.

Learn the ins and outs of being an entrepreneur. Develop the vision you always knew you had, and learn how to scale your initiative in the long term.

Make real life impact in your community. All Fellows are required to create initiatives that highlight forgotten and underserved communities.
Scholarship Winners of 2025’s Pitch Competition
Emma’s initiative focused on addressing Dear Asian Youth Houston’s sustainability concerns and investing in the next generation of board officers. As the President of Dear Asian Youth Houston, Emma felt a deep sense of duty to leave the organization in good hands after graduation. Her powerful and compelling pitch led her to win the $1000 scholarship prize.
1st Place: Emma Xiao
Kim’s project initiative combined advocacy and entrepreneurship, proposing a civic engagement podcast run by DeBakey Civics Club. A place where youth can make civic engagement digestible, approachable, and empower other youth to join the conversation. Her unique idea and strong speech led her to win our $500 scholarship prize.
1st Runner Up: Kim Nguyen
Driven by their passion for healthcare advocacy and personal experiences with cancer affecting their loved ones, Katelyn and Angelina teamed up to create Empower4Cancer. By hosting educational workshops, community members, particularly BIPOC and immigrant families, learn how to navigate the healthcare system. This initiative won our $250 prize.
